Step 2.
When the basecoat has dried, a second darker layer of brown is applied. The shade is chosen to match the general tone of the
adjacent wood.
Brushing along the length of the surface, streaks are intentionally left in the coat. It is this which creates the basic "grain" of the finish. To look more like real wood, a certain unevenness to the coat's thickness is desirable.
