Step 3.
Once the second coat has been applied, the darker sworls and patterns characteristic of wood are added by hand. This is where the real artistry comes into play.

As with the second coat, the painter does not apply the material with uniform thickness. In actual wood there are variations of light and dark in these patterns. (You can see this in the real wood of the cabinet below the work area.)
